A lot of great products for you this campaign. Honestly, I am a little disappointed that I had no entries on my most recent contest, so I am debating whether or not to do another one.

I am going to attempt to attend a swap meet or two at the local drive in this summer which should be fun. A great opportunity to do some recruiting as well as get some brochures out to my customers and pick up some new customers and some instant sales.

We're getting closer to the launch of TinyTillia

In my hands I have the first storybook of products that will be available from TinyTillia.com. At our sales meeting the other day, there were some products there to look at, touch and smell. I am very impressed and not just the quality of these products but the packaging as well.

My district is one of those and I can tell you that if you would like to be able to purchase these great products, you need to go to my Avon website and register. Then, once the TinyTillia website launches on April 12th, you will be able to shop there. I am very excited about this new line and just ordered my brochures, or as they call them, "Storybooks" today. Each storybook is good for a period of about 6 weeks.

One of the things that I enjoy doing as an Avon representative is hosting online events and e-parties. I can host one for ANYONE that is interested, regardless of where you live. Because they are online, your friends from all over can participate.

were produced with missing or incorrect ingredients. Therefore, Avon is conducting
an urgent recall of this product.

This product was featured in the Avon Brochures, beginning with Brochure 20.

The Shade Name and Lot Code of Healthy Makeup Eyeshadow affected by this recall
can be found on the label on the bottom of the product.

The shade being recalled because it contains an incorrect color pigment ingredient is:

The shades being recalled for missing preservative ingredients are as follows:

My new toy....

As a demo, I decided to order the Flip Video MinoHD video camera. I am taking it with me to my daughter's Basic Training graduation in November and I will be trying it out.

I opened the package (and it's perfectly boxed and ready to give as a holiday gift) and found a cute little camera. Only 4"H x 2" W x 1/2 D it's perfect to fit in your pocket.

This camera was labeled as number one in "Best Budget Camcorder" on the well known electronics review website CNET. It was listed as the editor's top camcorder choices. Value on this camer is $199.99, but you will be able to purchase it for $149.00 with any $20 ANEW Purchase you make from the C24 brochure.

Here is a quick clip I just recorded. I am pretty impressed by what this little camera can do. Granted, it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a regular video camera, but great for clips of the kids and grandkids, and great for your teens to carry in their pockets!

I received an email from Avon's Social Media Marketing Agency asking if I would be interested in sharing my Avon story with them and possibly being interviewed for press. I was speechless. So today I filled out the survey I was sent and sent it back with a photo of me (that was the part I hated the most) so we shall see what happens from here.

Online Fundraisers

Many times through the year, I will do an online fundraiser to raise funds for a cause that means something to me, or I have had people approach me, asking for an online fundraiser.

Currently, I am doing an online fundraiser to benefit Team McGraw and their participation in the New York City Marathon in November 2010. My goal is to raise $1000.00 by the end of September 2010.

Since 2003, the Tug McGraw Foundation has worked to raise awareness and improve the quality of life for those patients and caregivers confronted with brain tumors; in 2009, they expanded their programs to include Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Trauma Brain Injury (TBI).

Team McGraw consists of members of Tim McGraw's band, The Dance Hall Doctors, and other members. They participate in events all over the country to raise funds for this great cause. As a fan, I support their efforts, but also, as someone who has had PTSD affect my life, I am supportive of programs that help those who have to deal with it on a daily basis.

My fundraiser can be accessed via my website at www.youravon.com/mrisner and click on the Online Event Tab. After that, all you need to do is type in the word DHD2010 at checkout and 10% of your purchase will be sent to Team McGraw once the event closes out at the end of September.

The Shelf Life of Cosmetics

Keep track of how long you've had your beauty products, for two good reasons: To be sure they are still effective and to assess their possible contamination with bacteria that can cause rashes or infection. Save this handy guide. (Data gathered from various sources on the internet as well as cosmetic companies)

FOUNDATION: up to 2 years - Throw out sooner it the pigment has started to change or the consistency becomes clumpy.

LIPSTICK: 1 1/2 to 2 years - When the waxes eventually dry out, you'll feel a loss of the slip that makes application easy.

MASCARA: 3 months - Because the process of applying involves moving the wand from lashes to bottle and back, the risk of introducing bacteria is high. A new tube every three months is simply sensible eye hygiene.

EYE SHADOW: 3 years - If either powder or cream varieties exhibit an odor or a color or texture change, discard sooner.

LIP AND EYE PENCILS: 2 years - If the pencil starts to stick and get more difficult to use, it's probably dried out. Time to toss it.

BLUSH: 3 years - Despite a long shelf life, be alert to changes in color, smell or consistency.

MOISTURIZERS: 3 years - Discard them sooner if you start to smell an off odor or the overall texture seems to have changed.

BANISHING CREAM: 18 months.

MOISTURE THERAPY LIP BALM: Two years.

MOISTURE THERAPY PRODUCTS: Two years.

SUN PROTECTION: 2 years - When it's time to discard, you'll notice that the product starts to separate and may have an odor.

SELF-TANNERS: 6 months to 1 year - self-tanners take on a funny smell when they're past their prime. They become less effective and you may get a lighter or inconsistent "tan".

FRAGRANCE: 1 to 4 years - Perfume fades in 1 to 2 years: Toilet water: 2 to 4 years. Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.

My history with Avon

Someone asked me today how long I have been affiliated with Avon. Well, as an Independent Sales Representative, since October 2006, but as a customer, well, that goes back as far as I can remember.

See, my mother sold Avon. I had the cute collectible perfume decanters (I still have some of them) and wore Sweet Honesty, and all my jewelry was Avon.

As I grew up, on on my own, I tried to find a rep everywhere the military led us. I had some negative experiences, but never let those reps discourage me from buying the products I had trusted so much over the years.

So in October 2005, having just moved to South Carolina courtesy of the US Air Force I started the long (and discouraging) process of job hunting. Fast forward a year and I am at a local job fair, still looking for a job in the field of Medical Administration which I had been working in for years. At the job fair there were numerous tables from employers in the area. Most were factory jobs. Then I saw the Avon table. I walked around a few times, contemplating, before finally signing up.

Now, here I am. I will admit I am my best customer and sometimes I have to remind myself to watch how much I spend, but it's because I love the products.

Some of my favorites are SuperFULL mascara; the mineral makeup and the eye makeup remover. I am always trying out the new products and I still wear the jewelry.

International Women's Day 2009

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Avon Foundation for Women today announced meaningful new efforts to eradicate violence against women and help ensure justice for all women worldwide. This included a $1.5 million grant by the Avon Foundation for Women to launch the Avon Global Center for Women and Justice at Cornell Law School, a new center that will focus on working with judges, legal professionals, governmental and non-governmental organizations to improve access to justice in an effort to eliminate violence against women and girls. Avon also expanded its relationship with the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) with a new commitment of $250,000 for the UN Trust Fund to End Violence against Women, which will be added to the grant of $1 million awarded in 2008 for the Trust Fund. This brings the total Avon global commitment to ending violence against women to over $14 million, to date.

New Blog and a fresh start in a new place

I have been selling Avon products since October 2006 after we moved to South Carolina courtesy of the Air Force. I had been looking for a job for over a year with no luck. I went to the job fair in my city, and there, amongst the tables for the factories was an Avon table. I walked past it a few times before finally signing up.

Since my husband's retirement from the military in September 2008, we have moved here to Illinois and I am working on rebuilding my customer base and meeting new people.

I am a 3rd generation rep. My mother and grandmother both sold. I love Avon products and still have some of the jewelry that I had gotten years ago.

As this blog progresses, I will talk about my favorite products, the kinds of sales and specials going on via either the company, or that I offer to my local customers.

In the past I have donated Avon products as part of baskets for Relay for Life and other events; set up tables at craft shows and held book parties and Open Houses. Avon products make great fundraisers for schools; churches and other events.
